Every effort has been made with this site to provide accurate, reliable and useful links however I would ask you to appreciate that this is the work of an individual rather than a team and consequently I rely on visitors to advise me of errors and failed links so that they can be corrected as soon as possible. In providing these links and recommendations I cannot accept responsibility for the failure of any third party to deliver the services advertised but, as mentioned on the home page, I will assist whenever possible in the resolution of any problems arising where evidence exists that the booking was made via a link from this site which will not always be possible as many of the links are provided in good faith and without any recognition or reward from the supplier/service provider.
All information supplied to me personally, including your email address, is treated in the strictest confidence and will never be divulged to third parties unless of course it is a requirement of the booking and then only with your knowledge. Insofar as links to external sites are concerned you will need to ascertain how your information is handled and to opt out of marketing emails if appropriate.
Financial security
All the links from this site are directly with the supplier of the service/goods and whilst financial protection will automatically be afforded to you for credit card transactions over £100 you should be aware that lower value transactions and payments made by debit card would NOT be protected unless you see an ABTA or ATOL license advertised. Please be particularly aware that low cost airlines are particularly vulnerable to failure and whilst the use of a credit card may offer some peace of mind it may be prudent to purchase separate insurance.
Insofar as payments directly to Dykes-travel.com are concerned these are solely for services rendered and consequently no protection is necessary.
Documentation - Passports & Visas
It is incumbent on each person travelling to ensure that they have all the necessary valid documentation required for entering foreign countries and returning to the UK. When travelling abroad, excluding Ireland, a full British passport is required for everyone including infants. For certain destinations visitors must apply for a visa in advance of entry or, in the case of Australia and the USA, must obtain an electronic travel authority. Most visas require your passport to be sent off with photos and a fee and so sufficient time needs to be allowed. It is also necessary in many cases to have a minimum validity remaining on your passports. My
passport & visa page provides the links that you will need to obtain the information and in the case of the USA the actual travel authority can be obtained instantly.
If you are hiring a car during your travels don't forget that to take both parts of your driving licence and if you are taking your own car abroad then be advised of the requirements for driving on the continent. (link to follow)
Health & safety precautions
It is not necessary to have vaccinations for most tourist destinations in the northern hemisphere but wherever you travel it is wise to be aware of safe practices for personal security particularly in large cities. I will be providing links to a few sites in due course including one on voltages.
